A beautiful passive solar house on the north west side of SF incorporating both direct gain, trombe walls, and clearstory windows. Solar heating estimate is approx 80%, and a wood stove is used for supplemental heating during the cloudy days of winter.
Passive solar cooling, and a Cornell Batch Water Heater for pre-heating the mains water coming into the house rounds out the energy load for a very efficient and very warm and livable residence.
Master architect Mark Chalom teamed with James and Don Olien contractors to design and build a very affordable low energy consumption structure that is quality through out the complete building envelope.
